The whole advances by dividing into parts.

Bertalanffy Labs is an AI lab grounded in general systems theory. We study open systems and build the tools to observe and test them. We think of AI and engineering software alike not as machines, but as open systems.

Touch the fibers to open a local wound. Early on the system heals quickly; later, slowly.

One principle, two eras.

In 1950 Ludwig von Bertalanffy proposed a principle for living systems: a whole in which everything is connected to everything gradually differentiates into subsystems, the parts settle into their functions, and a leading part emerges.

Seventy years later the same pattern became visible in neural networks trained with a penalty on connection length. The lab's work is to study this principle and to build tools that put it to the test.

How we work.

Three principles, the same in every piece of work.

Research.

Plates are finished findings; the notebook is the thinking itself. Both are published in Turkish first.

  1. Plate I Anamorphosis — from whole to parts, in neural networks and living things published (TR)
  2. Plate II Containing oneself, proving oneself — self-membership in formal systems and the Gödel limit in preparation

What we don't claim.

Our software does not replace an engineer's judgement.

We mark any module that is not yet verified as "experimental". The rule we hold ourselves to is simple: you may speak from intuition, but you may not present intuition as knowledge.
